LAST BLOG FROM ECUADOR

so everyone it is 3 15 in the morning. i can't sleep for various reasons and i am all pack and ready to go back to my lame high school life. my last working day was thursday. in the morning i worked with the infants and it was really fun and the best part was that half way through our shift i was invited to join the older kids on a walk to the park and back. I had seen pictures of them playing in the thick grass, all wearing their blue bucket hats and was so sad when i didnt think i would have a chance to join them while i was here. So you could only imagine my excitedness.(if that is a word) There is a metal gate that separates the sleeping rooms and the play rooms and i was so excited i jumped right over it giving the head nun a little bit of a scare. I bought the kids cookies and water once we got to the park. Its so funny how much they freak out about getting water though! They really don´t get plain water in their diets at all so its a pretty big deal and some can barely drink it, it just falls right out of their mouths. Another plus of the walk was that most of the time i got to be hand in hand with my favorite little Rosita. That afternoon I worked my first shift at the casas, which are the older kids 3-18 or 16 i dont know. but its really fun cause they are very self dependant so you just kinda hang out and play games and laugh. It was a really good last shift. after that we went to the younger kids and the workers had planned alittle party for all of us leaving. I am lucky that there are girls who have been here a long time that are leaving too or else i dont think i would get this grand of a send of. The best part was during the goodbyes my roommate tanner was translating and the worker talking was kinda going from person to person and inbetween weach person would usaually say something about the whole group and she was talking about how greatful she was for everone and stuff and then here segway into thanking my was very abrupt and caught taneer off guard. the first thing she said was ¨And espencer, you look like a polar bear,¨ it gave everyone a good laugh. and then they fed us some treats and i was on my way. Never to see that wonderful place for a long time. I really can't describe how great it is though. The nuns take such good care of them and it really is just one big family. Every nun, every worker, every volunteer, and every child just has the strongest unconditional love for the children. I really hope i get to go back. I am actually already thinking of trying to this summerr for a long term trip. So if any of my sponsors who read this think they can help me out again please contact me. The long term trip is a little more expensive but so much more worth it. Two weeks cost more than half of two months. Well, on friday i did some shopping and went to the equator!!! That was a blast. I also ate cuy which is a slow roasted guinea pig so that was cool. It also happens to be at the same restuarant that Andrew Zimmerman from Bizarre Foods eats his first cuy. If you have seen that episode yes i did try the brain, but it was the kidney that wax surprisingly wonderful. now it is 3 42 and i think i am going to have a large bowl of cereal and some toast. Wish me luck on my flight. except you are all probably asleep right now.....

Sorry again.

So sunday evening there was a pretty good rain storm and some in that rain storm cuased the electricty and phone to go out so sorry havent posted in a while! It feels really wierd to only have one working day left!!!! But i need to give you the low down on what i hve been doing before i get into my feelings and stuff... Sunday i had the morning of and slept in a little but sleeping nin had been hard to come by, and i watched sunday morning seession of conference which was fun!!! and after lunch i worked with the in betweener kids again, it has to be one of my least favorite groups just cuz there are two volunteers and like six kids that can´t walk so it can get kinda lame... Monday i was working with the one and two year olds at our main orphange and it was ablast! i was in charge of doing therapies that day so i got to take them away one by one and try to teach them the abc's so that was fun! I almost know all of the kids names but i leave soon!!!! haha. after lunch that day I got to work with the special needs boys and they are very fun. they are alot more funvtional than the girls so its good to be able to communicate thoughts and feelings whether it be thourgh body language or vocal language and it makes me realize how much i take that for granted. Tuesday i worked with the babies with a volunteer who is just crazy for the babies it was funny to see how much she loved them. She said her last week schedule she made it so that she works with the babies as much as possible. After lunch that day I worked with the other guy here with the inbetweeners and i was really slow, so we stole a radio for the baby room and a few of the older kids just to mix it up and it was really fun. Today we went to Campi which is the government run one and we had five volunteers which is about three too many so there wasnt that much for me to do. and know i am typing this blog cuz we got home early and no one wants to go the artisian with me and help me spend alll my spending money so.... ya. i kinda makes me sad that i have to go home on saturday  VERY early in the morning  and then return to my normal life that does not seem that important now. There is going to be eight volunteers leaving at the same time as me and only two coming in for only a week and they are having to cut shift and it just doesn't seem right that I have to go home and work my butt off for my ever so glorious high school diploma that I have procrastinated working on, while there are these  hundreds of orphaned and abondoned children and only a few number of people willing to help them get the things we take so much for granted like brushing our teeth, taking baths, having a constant feeling of love and safety all in a country where that is not always easy to come by in the first place. That is enough about my feelings though, its not like I can change anything about me leaving without me completely ruining what little stuff I have done in high school. chao!

Thursday and Friday

Thursday morning i weas supposed to go sight seeing but no one else was awake so the free morning was a complete waste. Then in the afternoon i worked with the 1-2 year olds again. and then all have some type of herpes and have weird rashes so it is super sad. we arent supposed to be as physical as we usaully are with them. but today was a whole new story!!!! on fridays the volunteers get to go soem wheres awesome and i happen to land on one of the best trips. which included... a two hour bus ride to the middle of the amazon jungle. 13 different zip lines to traverse us across various velleys and amazing jungle views, a butterfly farm filled with the most beautiful butterflies ever!!!, and a white/brown water rafting!!!! it was pretty much awesome especially the going upside on a giant zip line part. then we went home and went to the art park and shopped at all the little stores and i got some way sweet stuff. ya....

sorry...

sorry about my last blog everyone! Ecuador has put me in a very sarcastic mood. monday morning I got to work with the special needs girls and they were soo precious. Maria is so boy crazy and was supposed to be my new best friend but she got sick and wasnt able to come on our walk with us so it was really sad but i met the three other girls and they are the best!!! ONe of them is such the motherly type, she makes sure everybody is doing the right thing and always checks one everyone its really funny and she loves yogurt with froot loops. after that i worked  that afternoon i worked with the babies like i said i think and they are just as cute as ever. Tuesday I worked with the inbetweener kids they are like six months to a year and there are not that many of them but they are alot of work because we have to make sure we do alot of physical therpies with them because some have issuses with crawling and rooling over and sitting up. I was working with a girl who was also having her first day with that age group so it was interesting and she was helping one little baby crawling and he just gave up and hit his face on the floor and his mouth started bleeding...i felt so bad...for the both of them...she felt REALLY bad. and after lunch i went back and worked with the year to two year olds and had lots of fun. i am starting to know their names alot better and they are starting to know me alot better so it is all working out there. Today i worked at a government run site that not alot of  people get to go to since we only get to go once a week and the orphange is in alot worse shape and apparently there is lice and stuff and they dont smell as great but one of the volunteers sadi something that i really liked. she said that the kids that are the hardest to love were the ones who needed it the most. once i got there though it was not hard to love them at all. the two older boys were a blast and once they found out i was capable of piggy back rides it was all over. they didnt leave me alone for a good hour. there is a little rocking horse toy thing that put two of the kids to sleep. the first kid was this really cute cute and she was SOOO out of it. we would rock the horse really fast and pinch her cheeks and she would not wake up it was so cute. after that we got home early so me and my room mate waatched a movie in spanish and i played soccer with mysel. lunch though, was very good! it was this bbq chicken stuff and i ate a ton. after that i worked with the one to two year olds again and i was actually my picture day!!! so i have lots of new pictures but i am not allowed to post them on this blog. so...HUB i will talk to my project director and see what we can do about your website(if you even read this)((and if you do, comment and tell me wether that website you were talking about is preivate to employees)). one of the girls made little pizzas for us tonight. thank you emily. and then i went on a walk with two girls and we stopped at a little store and i bought a glass coke and a spanish pop and then i went to a bread and cake store and bought an empanada that was not filled with dessert and it was gross then i bought french fries and put all sorts of things on them that i didnt know but they were so goood! and cheap. but i dont think the guy gave me the right change.and tomorrow i have the morning off so i want to try and go shopping anbd that should be fun. but it is getting late and i hope this is more of what the readers are looking for!!! and i am sorry for the numerous typos but i can only type by looking at the keyboard so.... ya buenos noches!
